jerry seinfeld productivity

Jerry Seinfeld is the man behind one of the most iconic sitcoms of the 90s. When he first began Seinfeld, he continued touring as a comedian. One of the ways he managed to do it all without skipping a step was with the help of a large wall calendar that displays every day of the year, and a red marker.

When one budding comedian asked for tips on the business, Jerry said the key was to spend time writing new jokes every day. For each day that he completes his writing task, he put a red X in that day's spot in the calendar.

"After a few days you'll have a chain. Just keep at it and the chain will grow longer every day. You'll like seeing that chain, especially when you get a few weeks under your belt. Your only job next is to not break the chain," Jerry said.

The key takeaway here is to practice your skill every single day. Whether you are learning a new language or want to become a better web designer, the point is to do it every day. The red X's in your calendar will begin to motivate you and encourage you to keep going. In turn, skipped days will lead to more skipped days.
