Holiday Lights

Note from Marissa: Ridiculously Efficient CCO Melody Alderman is training for her first Warrior Dash next summer and is brave enough to document every step of her journey. Read on for her latest entry.

I would be lying if I said that I've been bringing my A game this past week. I knew that week 3 of this challenge would involve the holidays and I honestly do believe I put forth a valiant effort. After all, I spent New Year's Eve alcohol free. If that isn't commitment, I don't know what is.

Still, the scale doesn't lie. In fact, it can be a bit too brutally honest and the number that is reflecting back to me tells me that I didn't move enough. Too many movie nights, both in and out of the house. Too many good excuses to not commit each day.

This journey isn't about a number though. It's about how I feel about myself and regardless of what any scale reflects, I can feel the lack of commitment this past week. Rather than beat myself up about it though, which I'm an expert at doing, I'm going to shake it off. I'm going to release it and wake up in the morning remembering why I'm doing this and reminding myself that I am worth the time and effort it takes to commit each day. I knew this wouldn't be easy and it's in these moments that I am humbled.
