How to Accelerate Your Mornings
It's no secret that many of us struggle in the early hours of the day. Morning time means yawns, coffee, and maybe even a commute. However, with the right preparation, mornings do not have to mean a drop in productivity. In Alan Henry's latest article for Lifehacker, we learn how to make mornings the most productive part of our day.
Getting enough sleep is essential. More often than not, the reason we want to roll over and go back to sleep in the morning is because we haven't gotten enough rest. Do your body a favor and strive for seven to eight hours of sleep a night. To ensure that you are able to sleep at a decent hour, work a daily exercise routine into your day. It will do wonders for your body and the quality of your sleep.
Create routines in the morning time. For must of us, this routine includes a caffeinated drink and some 'me' time. Whatever this routine is, make sure it leaves in a positive mood and ready to make the most of your day. Consider working some music into this routine. Music can rejuvenate our senses and prepare us for what lies ahead during the workday. Its also a great pick-me up when you are still feeling groggy.
Lastly, choose your morning work wisely. If you like to get over the mountain first thing, tackle your hardest tasks early on in the day. If you know you work better at a later hour, blaze through some easy work before tackling the stuff you know will be difficult. Everyone is different, so make sure you give different approaches a chance, and find which one works best for you.
Mornings are never going to stop happening, so the sooner you embrace the light, the more productive you will be.
