New research has linked hiding fundamental truths about yourself to decreased productivity. Clayton R. Critcher, researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, has completed a study that fundamentally proves that problems arise for people who have to watch everything they say. In a country that has no protection laws for gays and lesbians in the workplace, this can present problems.

Productivity is most often at its highest when one is solely focused on the task at hand. By having to hide something from others, one undoubtedly loses focus on the task, thus decreasing productivity. Unfortunately, not everyone can work in an environment that promotes openness and equal rights. For those that have to hide who they really are, there are ways to feel free. Attempt to surround yourself with like minded employees who make you feel at home.

Working in an environment that lets you be you can boost productivity and ultimately allow you to get more done in your day. That's what its all about!
