5 minute meditation

Meditation is a technique that helps both the body and mind relax and feel centered. Some will choose to take classes, and others will incorporate meditation as part of their yoga routines. However, all you really need is five minutes every morning to help you start your day off without the stress of work.

Many of us find it hard to disconnect from the world, mostly because we feel anxious about upcoming work projects and feel that disconnecting may take us away from something important. And, this may very well be the case. But your morning shouldn't start with work. Mornings should be your own, and should start off with something that helps to prepare you for the day ahead.

Nora Tobin, a contributing editor for Shape magazine, was having this very problem until she found this 5-minute meditation technique. Now, she feels more productive at work, has more patience, and no longer feels she needs to respond to people right away. That's a pretty powerful five minutes, if you ask me.

5-Minute Meditation

1. Sit or lie down in a comfortable position. Turn on soothing instrumental music. 2. Close your eyes and breathe deeply through your nose. Allow the tension to leave your mind and body. 3. Control your breathing: inhale, hold, and exhale for a five-count each. 4. Continue the breathing exercise for five minutes.
