Where Are Your Productivity Places?
Do you have productivity places? In the 1996 film "Happy Gilmore," Adam Sandler's character goes to his happy place to relax and get in the zone. To pump up your performance, do important work in locations that promote flow states and intense concentration.
I use a lap desk, so my office is essentially my entire living room. When it's time to hunker down for a work period, though, I head to my productivity place -- my favorite green chair -- and put on my headphones. Your productivity place could be in an empty boardroom, a crowded coffee shop, a hotel lobby or even an airplane.
