Adopt an Efficiency Mission, Not a Productivity Plan

thinking Seth Godin's blog is a wellspring of inspiration, and today's post got me thinking about an efficiency mission versus a productivity plan. The post is a mere three sentences, so I'll reproduce it here:

Plans are great. But missions are better. Missions survive when plans fail, and plans almost always fail.

When it comes to productivity, are you trying to complete all the tasks on your overcrowded to-do list, or are you fully dedicated to eliminating unnecessarily wasted time from your day?

A productivity plan might include a paradigm for churning out work, which is subject to your focus levels, current workload and ambient distractions. An efficiency mission, however, transcends beyond the day-to-day grind of work and might grow into a seek-and-destroy operation in which you systematically attack time-wasters and other productivity pitfalls.

My mission? To remain Ridiculously Efficient, of course. What's yours?
