First thing's first -- get organized with a to-do list. Start your day by going over everything you need to get done. Then, prioritize your worst tasks and get them done at the beginning of the day. Once you get that one horrible task out of the way, the rest of your day will seem easy. And, stop ignoring those smaller, easier tasks. Get those done and out of the way to make room for more important things.
Understand the time of day when you perform the best. Sometimes it's early in the morning, sometimes it's after 3pm. Figure out what these peeks hours are and set aside a few tasks specifically for this time period. Cluster tasks like checking and responding to emails and phone calls together. Do these tasks in short 3-4 time slots a day, which will help prevent your inbox and incoming messages from distracting you.
When you are working on a task, stick to working on just that one task. Don't mutitask and stay away from distractions. At the end of everyday, spend a bit of time reflecting on what you were able to complete, what you didn't and start a new to-do list for the next day.
