A great deal of North America is sitting under a blanket of snow and experiencing the coldest temperatures many of us can remember. This probably hasn't been the most productive week, as some of us may have chosen to hide beneath warm fleece blankets (guilty) instead of braving the frost bite-inducing weather to go to work. Now that the Polar Vortex has started to withdraw, we can finally peek out from under our blankets and get some work done. Here are 3 ways you can stay productive during the cold winter months.
Get Some Sun
A lot of people suffer from the winter blues because of the lack of sunlight and from spending so much time indoors. Bundle up and go outside to get some sun. Even if it is just for ten minutes, go for a short walk and enjoy the fresh air. Additionally, wake up a bit earlier than you usually would so you get more sunlight in your day.
Stay Warm
If you are shivering while trying to work, you're not going to get anything done. For those who commute, layer. The office is always either too hot or too cold, so dress in layers when you go to work to be prepared. Keep an extra sweater at work just in case. For those who work from home, keep an eye on your thermostat and think about investing in a small space heater. The less you have to think about how to stay warm, the more time you'll have to think about your next project.
Find Work That Excites You
Winter is the perfect time to start a new project. Start work on something that excites you but you may have been putting off. Set goals for yourself and work towards them. The accomplishments and overall focus on something new will keep your mood up and fight any sluggishness you might be feeling.
